Just pondering....

Our children are immediately connected moments after birth! Like, the baby's aunt might yell with joy, "he bats his eyelids just like his mother!", mother in law might add to counter, "ohh! but he yawns just like my son!" And so it would continue for sometime till all his features and little antics are associated with everybody related by blood and even more, like...
  • fingers resemble exactly of his grandfather ( paternal)
  • but the thumb is just like his grandfather ( maternal)
  • smiles like his paternal aunt
  • but cries like his maternal aunt
  • stairs like his uncle (paternal)
  • sleeps like his uncle (maternal)
  • looks like his grandmother (paternal)
  • behaves like his grandmother (maternal)
It's never ending till he grows up and creates a another blueprint ( read offspring) of his own!

Well some of the similarities drawn with the baby are true, some are figment of imagination and some are forcibly attributed to establish his strong links to the family tree. But after so many years, as I see my children around I feel I am just a medium. Medium for procreation, for teachings, for life skills etc. Every body is just a medium for the next, and next will be medium for the next and so on.
We call it advancement of human race, survival of the fittest or what ever but the fact is that we are never the end product. For ages we have been the medium for the next and therefore we must give the best what we have learnt in our time with experience.
So will the last man of the human race ( if ever there is )possess all the wisdom, learning, experience and expertise of millions of years? Is there any way mediums can know about it?

Vanishing promises....

I don’t deny the fact that I’m the typical woman who just poses to be the best in all roles yet very vulnerable and anxious about everything all the time. True. I confess.

As the mother of two young and terrible “little rascals” I always get the perfect opportunity to play a disciplinarian and which secretly I flounder ( at times). As the elder one tries to defy my words with a smile (devilish) the younger one...barely two years..puts up his index finger , sways it and utters ‘No No’. Remember he hardly spells out few mono syllabic  words !

I summon God and ask Him to give me the power to bear these creatures...

All change when your children fall sick. My elder one , Juhi almost 7 years...was down with fever and my son Jai was also unwell.  Almost a week both the kids suffered. More so I did. All mothers do. Specially I remember the times when I was harsh with them and promise myself to be the best Mom ever born on earth.  Juhi wanted permission to watch TV as being in bed for days turned boring...and when I agreed she promised me to be the best girl ever born on earth.

Well,  fever subsided. Asking for permission replaced by stubbornness. And all promise from both the parties vanished. Does it only happen with me?

Walking in the rain

I completely detested my habit of getting up late and then rushing through things. I vowed to change. Though I have been trying to change it for years yet.."tomorrow I will " never actually arrived. Typical you know!..but today..I woke up at 5..a mission I thought..now or never. Actually I read a lot of motivating proverbs and sayings to myself before I went to sleep last night, though the motivation was about to fall into deaf ears when the alarm 'roughly and harshly cried aloud' ( I thought so for a moment)..yet I was up. Washed my face with more force of water than ever, put on my tracks and shoes and off I went. Secretly I glanced at the soft bed and pillows ,somewhere they were unhappy that I let them go so early! I was walking down the road. Put on my earplugs and switched to my favorite song "You are my theme for the dream". But somehow it was not going with the morning serenity. I switched it off. Chirping of the birds, some known mostly unknown soothed my ears, somehow they were welcoming I thought to see this stranger. Their morning chores had already started!..I was new to find out..so many variety of them flew around, so pretty so charming..how did I miss that! Platoon of heavy boots passed by me, it was their usual morning PT time and some every vehicles occasionally disturbed the morning quietness. I walked far.morning breeze gently kissed my cheeks.I felt my mother touching me. I looked up and asked, Is that you , maa? It started to shower. I slowed down. I wanted to enwrap every bit of nature ,feel it,touch it..and drench in it allover. I wanted to walk more...and just wished time to halt at 5.30 am...morning is so full of promise, impeccable, honest, pure...full of forgiveness.
A wonder. I looked up to the sky, and said " Maa you always wanted me to get up early..now I know why...is it too late, maa?...The sun came out behind the clouds.

I am part of nature and nature is part of me

I went for my routine swim yesterday evening. It was almost 8 o'clock and time to get out of the water. For my last lap, I decided to take it easy and float instead. I really never tried this one...but then my ears were under water , face facing the sky..never ever I think I felt part of the nature in this manner.
I felt the hugeness of the creation.
Water was unfathomable (at that time I felt so) and the hue of the navy blue sky, recalling almost the end of the day..and just myself in between. There was just the mumbling sound, voice of nature or my inner soul? I admired the hugeness and power of nature. It was an ambivalent feeling. for a fraction of second I was scared but the tranquility enveloped my senses. Nature will take care of me . My mother and other near ones are there too...somewhere. Either in the listless sky who is looking down at me, or the air brushing my face soothingly or the blue water cradling me....Who Dares Death?
